The long-awaited Best Miniature contest results are here! (sponsored by the lovely people at OG Games)

First of all, big thanks to everyone who entered this contest - the large number of great looking entries made choosing an overall winner quite a task! Also, please accept my apologies for the delay in revealing the results.

Rather than listing the top three winning entries, I'm going to start with 4th place (our 1st place prize winner kindly passed his OG Games voucher to the next in line, so all the prizes have been bumped along).

So without further ado, here are the top four winning entries!

Arr, that be a well painted Pirate! The colour scheme works well and the addition of the powder monkey was a stroke of genius

3RD PLACE





aniku takes 3rd place with a very dangerous and imposing looking Ogre!
I was particularly fond of the rust effect applied to the weapons and armour, the banner work, the basing, and the morning star conversion. Great stuff!

2ND PLACE




The 2nd place prize goes to Malvino!
A truly chilling looking Yhetee. Great paintwork, you've achieved a wonderfully icy look to the weapons, and the blood splatters contrast nicely with the white fur. Lots of attention to detail on the base too, excellent work.

Sculpted from scratch (), this Butcher is one menacing looking Ogre!
The gore streaming down his multi-layered chin and across his expansive belly, the huge club, the little Gnoblar perched on his shoulder, the dark and grimy look of the paint job - overall I think it's brilliant!

Prize: Big Name of your choosing + 6 Pet Gnoblars (passed voucher to 2nd place, so Pet Gnoblars have been doubled)

In a couple of hours the Stronghold will be temporarily offline for maintenance. An update for the forum software brings security and bug fixes, plus a number of other little tweaks.

If all goes well the Stronghold's gates will open again later today.

Some rumours about the next Ogre Kingdoms release have popped up over on the Warhammer Forum, posted by Stronghold member Avian:

"Look for better equipment, the option to fight in a new formation and significantly fewer restrictions.
Shame about the changes to fear.

I'm quite excited, both with regards to timing (though I'll have to juggle painting my chaos AND ogres while changing diapers) and the book contents. And the models."
