I never really regretted the white until I got to the drop pods. Over that large an area it was really tiresome to get smooth. When I get to the titan I think I'm going to try masking off the other areas and airbrushing the white on (I'll have to do some test pieces first of course ;)).

I've actually got next to no marines left from the battlebox now. I sold off a bunch of them and gave the rest away at our local club. It was a nice idea to paint all 100 but after doing about 50 of them, I decided I'd seen enough power armour to last for a while!

Thanks

Well the tourney's been and gone. I had a great time but wasn't able to recreate my success at the heas. In hindsight, with the heat lsit working so well, I probably shouldn't have subbed it out for the crazy gimmik dropp od list, but I had a grea time and in the end, that's what really counts ;)

Game 1:
Vs Ork
Result: Massacre Loss
So I was massacared, but to be fair, as I mentioned to my opponent (great guy, went on to win best sportsman) when he deployed: 'Any one whom nagaes to paint 120 ork boys to a high standard deserves to win'. And boy did he. I just couldn't pump out enough shots to dent his 30 man boys mobs before they lsammed into me and whittled me away through sheer weight of attacks. My librarian did earn himself a heroic death though, surrounded by a circel of 30 orcs in combat, he survived a turn before finally sucoming to the nobs powerclaw

Game 2:
Vs Chaos Space Marines
Result: Draw
This was an exceptionally bloody game. His large number of Plague marines (T5 and feel no pain, boy were these things hard to kill) just wouldn't stay down, until my terminators arrived and cut a bloody swathe through them. By the end of the 6th turn he had  3 chaos space marines and a wounded sorceror left and I had my Libby and 2 terminators (plus a handful of drop pods).

Game 3:
Vs Chaos Space Marines
Result: Minor Loss
This was agaisnt the same guy as game 2. As we drew we both wound up back on the same table. We were given the option to swap with someone else but decided as we'd had such great fun in the pevious game, we were happy to play each other again. All I was after today was 3 good games of 40K against decent (non-dickish) opponents, and I knew I'd get another one against Ian. Unfortunatley, it all went a bit awry for me this time. Post game, we figured out that if my Dreadnoughts hadn't waited until turn 6 (!) to arrive in their pods, we'd have had another draw on our hands. But then that's the risk you run with the drop pods ;)

So a great day with 3 very enjoyable games against no super cheezy maxed out lists. What more could you ask for? An award of some variety? Well I did scoop the Best Army award for the Snakes agaisnt some very stiff competition giving them 2 best army awards to date. I really ought to reward them by painting that titan they've had their eye on...

thanks
Corai

not a great photo, but as I'm taking a bit of a break from the Iron Snakes I thought I'd try and get a full army pic of what's painted:

Thanks

Wow, very striking army. Not as striking as, say your Warmachine boys (take it as a compliment when I say the only thing that I don't like about this army is that I like another of your's better), but it's memorable, and very good looking.
If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.

Just the amount of armies you work on at the same time and the quality of the figures you produce are staggering. Just... wow. Looking great as a cohesive (sp?) force.

Coraî, here is a lame excuse not to field a titan.
"How do I cram a titan in a drop pod !"
Otherwise, I second Slash on his remark : impressive productivity !
But lately, you seem to be using less colors (might explain the productivity a bit).
like with those snakes and your MechaSteamyTzeentch project.
Thumbs up anyway !

The only reason I play in tournies, frankly.  And that's one of your best neologisms Corai, a favorite invention of mine as well

Congrats on the best painted, you definitely deserve it with those drop pods alone!  The partial-snow bases look fantastic when taken as a whole, but do you really not have a display / movement tray for the army?  A snowish one with some ruins would be pretty easy to throw together and would look great.

Well now I think I have to.

That would certainly make a nice buit of static terrain if I ever get around to making that display board.

In the meantime I've started work on the titan again. I've been filling the gaps and tidying up filing marks where nescessary and started to work on the base. I'll try and get some pics up asap

Thanks
