BRASS SCORPION CONVERSION & tutorial
« on: Oct 06, 2007, 09:27:14 PM »
hello all. as you may know from my CSM gnoblog i am making a brass scorpion of khorne, here is my progress so far (still waiting for defiler no.2)

stick together the legs and claws as normal (there should be 6 legs and 2 claws when you finish, but ive only got 4 legs)

and the body

stick the battle cannon and the face together

and then saw half the back off, like so:

saw off the two front pointy bits of the body, so the front is relatively flat

glue the top of the defiler torso on top of the body and add a hatch, then glue the cannon onto the front

glue the heavy flamers onto either side of the body

cut the havoc launcher in half and add one of the ends (sawn in half as well)

glue the havoc launcher and a leg/shoulder plate onto the back of the body

at the end of tutorial 1 your scorpion should look like this

stay tuned for the next bit soon!

Nice tutorial so far.
If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.

I don't play 40k yet - I've not got my eldar finished - but I did pick up 2 defiler kits at gamesday in order to build this model as I just love the idea of it - great tutorial so far, I'll be watching with interest :)

Oh man Wildcard, you've got the itch, BAD. When you start buying models from armies you don't play, you know there's no turning back.

Says me with my half converted defiler (cause I thought it was a cool model) and unpainted unit of Teutogen Guard (cause they're so awesome looking).

well heres the rest of it.

glue the other body together and cut off the section with the last pair of legs and glue it onto the back and cover up any gaps with plates/gs.

then cut off one of the front claw joints and stick it on the back

now make the claw arm but without the two claw bits

here you may have to improvise. i used two predator sponson lasconnons with the CSM gargoyles but you may not have those so i suggest using the autocannons in the set.

now add plating

you should then have this:

click all the joints in and add any symbols onto it.

and here you go!

the finished thing.

Awesome job Fallen_Angel, maybe I'll save my one defiler until I can get a second.
