Sort of a one off mis-mash

I changed my usual skin technique though- the highlights are stripey, I think it looks ok on such a large model- it's certainly faster than usual

Ok I took the Ogres to a 1 day tourney today and got massacred twice, drawn once, nice tourney though, I enjoyed it but am now totally convinced that Ogres in a competative atmosphere are no-go.

I did take the best army award though, which pleased me greatly

I've finished the Slavegiant (suspiciously just before the tourney

) but will hold off on pics as I would like to enter it in the Big Name painting contest.
So expect pics when that comp is announced

What awesome models you have there! Your painting has come a long way since I started on here! The Giant is incredibly realistic, I was almost scared, i love it. The Butcher is also a particular fave of mine too

Great giant. The visible brush strokes are fantastic.
I have to agree with Belchfist- you have come a long way. Which is an impressive thing to say considering how good the ogres on page 1 look.

Wow, thanks guys!

I never noticed my painting getting better, seriously.

Saying that though, since I started bashing the forums (this one mostly but others too) I've experimented so much with different techniques, methods and products.
Feedback helps too, majorly, and it has been the forums, along with tourney dates that have kept me motivated with painting.
Thanks to all you guys I've now won one best army award and a best army nomination award at the UKGT with this army, which still suprises me, but I'm very proud of.

I'll get these pics up of the finished Giant as soon as, just want to check which big name comp is next

Congrats on the awards, your deserve them. That giant is seriously awesome.
One thing to note, when the blood hits the cloth waistband, it would actually widen out as it gets absorbed by the fabric. So the border of the blood stain wouldn't be even with the blood on the skin.

TBH, I messed the blood up completely. IIRC it was late at night and I slipped a little, making the are of blood area bigger than I would have liked and I'm not happy with that bit. There's not much you can do though when you've started painting blood over your already highlighted colours (unless you want to do them again

) it's all or nothing.

He's great! I know exactly the feeling of "Oh no!" but the blood is ok too, don't worry. He really looks enslaved, he looks so sad I feel a bit sorry for him! Congrats on your awards, too!

Reg, he's pretty much stock parts, apart from the padlock and a bit of chain that was used to lenthen the stone disc around his neck

No painting for these guys for a while I'm afraid, too busy with the WE's.
That doesn't stop me from taking them to tournies though!

There's a little one-day tourney coming up in a couple o'weeks - our club is putting on one for everyone later in the year and this is really just a tester for the big(ish) one.
Still, that doesn't make it any less of a tourney, I'll be trying to get my boys some grub and hopefully an award that isn't the one for last place

Would have preffered another unit of Yhettees in place of the Leaddies but I could be bothered to break out the paints for them.

Hmmm, didn't want to paint anything for this tourney, that's why I picked Leaddies instead of Yhettees...imagine the horror then when I find out that for some strange reason I've only got 3 Leaddies painted

I played in the tourney yesterday and recieved joint best painted.
My gaming was strange, I had 3 excellent games and really enjoyed the day, but lost all 3

I very nearly won my first game against Delves, took out all his stuff apart the Black Guard (ASF) and Hydra, as I had no tools to deal with them, instead of just hiding (which would have won the game) I went right at them and lost because of it

Brilliant game though!

The second was against Delves again!
I had REALLY bad luck in this;
7 Units had to take a panic test all at the same time and 6 ran, all because a unit lost in combat by 1 and fled!
I charged Yhettees into RXB's and lost in combat!
I Finally got my Giant and a unit of 3 bullcharging Guts in the side of 20 spears with a LV2 in it........the Giant Yelled and Balled and protected the unit from certain doom

A strange game, in which I had a minor loss.

The last game was against a friend who was using Dwarves, I didn't try too hard in this one and just a had a laugh instead;
Cast Braingobbler a hell of a lot of times, just for a laugh hoping for a quick fix as the guy usually fails panics at high Ld, didn't work and I got soundly beat in the end.
Special mention goes to my Yhettees that recieved one wound from a flame cannon, panicked, and ran 17, yes 17" off the board

Good laugh though!

I've nothing but praise for it usually, used it in quite a few games recently and it has effectively shut down the magic phase.

In this tourny though it was wasted completely as I played Dwarves, Dark Elves with no magic and Dark Elves with just a Lv2 and a dagger.
Only got one chance to use it (didn't even need to) and when I did he rolled no doubles

The next tourney I'll be going to for sure is AGoM3 in August, but thats all sold out

I might go to one in June, but thats invitation only

After that the next one is our club's one dayer, but not untill september

There is a few in the summer, I'll not be going to them though, let me know if you want me to list a few for you

Ahhh, you're going AGoM! Me too! Good to be seeing your army again (taking ogres right?) seeing as they were a major influence in my starting ogres in the first place.

Very cool giant, congratulations on the win. Could have saved it for the giantbreaker comp though...

I'm going AGoM, unfortunately won't be taking the Ogres though as I've put them in 5 tournies over the last year, more the year before too, it's time for a change starting with AGoM, I'll be taking my WE's for a bit
