I really like the bases, really, really like them. Not many people bother to specialy base there basic troops, nice to see it done.

By the way, what is the grass you've used?

They look quite nice :) Especially the bases! Are they sunbiters or something like that???

these are the "maw's teeth" - yellow being the ogre colour for fear (according to my tribe).

I'm going to base all my army in a similar fashion.

the grass is actually an offcut - I went to a local gargen centre and found some fake green bullrush-like thinks and sniped bits off the end, cutting diagonally with some clippers - it seems to work OK and I liked the effect.

I was proud of these figures until i saw the photos - now I can only see every glaring mistake - ah well, will do better next time.

I kow exactly what you mean. The close up photo brings out all the mistakes that the eye will pass over. On the table top though, they will look great.

I echo everybodys sentiment about the bases, very nice work.

Love  the bases! A quick hint for the yellow over the skin. Put a layer of shadow grey then white and then the yellow and you will get a better result.

I love the base too, and that yellow really stands out. I like it.

I like the idea, and the execution.
I would highlight the yellow a bit, with a touch of white over the top most parts.
good job.
keep it up.
cheers

I find them to be smugged but then again, some artist create smugged paintings and get away with it. They don't pass the 6 inch rule for golden demon contest but they do pass the 2 foot rule for playing and having fun.  ;)
Who will be the next Khan in the Ogre Kingdoms?

There's a better way to do yellow than straightout of the pot- Start with a dark brown and slowly add lighter colours over that- so start with scorched brown, then bestial brown, then snakebite leather. Once you have those down put your yellow on. You'll get a nice buttery yellow instead of Yellow! Yellow! Yellow! It's more work but worth it. Oh, and nice bases!

Using close up pictures is a good way of improving the quality of your models! Once you think you're done, take the pictures and see what mistakes you made. From there for fix them and now your models will look amazing instead of great.
