Ogre Kingdoms vs. Skaven

<< < (17/22) > >>

grey templar:
I don't know. Slave Blocks will often have 4 static combat resolution(banner and 3 ranks)

The Iblaster would need to cause 4 wounds a turn just to stick around. Hope you're in BSB and General range.

Tranq:
Anyone who had played with a Firebelly against Skaven? Tell me, please. Big game tomorrow against a swarm skaven player

Phazael:
Most slave units don't gear up, so you sport 7 attacks.  There are three that hit and wound on 3s, one that hits on 4s and wounds on 5s, and 3 that hit on 3s and wound on 2s.  The slaves are very unlikely to push a wound back and under most circumstances you will either win or lose by one, which is a makable rerollable 8 if your bubble is around.  I've never had a problem parking a slave unit, personally, since you win on the charge and can hang in for a few turns.  And if you do run, it will be on the Skaven player's turn and he will have the undesirable choice of trying to chase a unit likely to get away that will take him out of his LD bubble.  Like I said, its an option if you have no better use for an IBlaster late game.

@Tranq- Same as against any other T3 heavy army.  Step them up in round two for the breath weapon hits to win back to back combats and you are good to go.  They are also good for rendering an Abomb moot, too, if you step him up round one, since the flaming impact hit will knock down regen before the unit does its swinging.

Nihmwit:
I wouldn't charge a IB into a slave bus, but a chaff unit should lose consistantly.  What Grey Templar is forgetting is that static combat resolution is going to wither pretty damned fast.  On the turn you charge, an Ironblaster should break 2 ranks between attacks and impacts.  Assuming the slaves stick around after the lost (but steadfast) combat, the IB has a decent chance of breaking ANOTHER rank the next round.  That's a loss of 3 points of static combat res.  So unless the Skaven player is running slave buses as chaff, and assuming the Skaven player doesn't have anything big to shoot, then parking a slave unit isn't such a bad idea.

Tranq:
how should I deal with gutter runners with poison? I lost a unit of 8 bulls last game before they even could charge one of his units. Can't let that happen again.
