Bretonnia Ogre by ogrebane

Lanzlo:
I'm hungry, and dat thinling girlie over dere looks tasty. Ting is, dose tin cans protecting her...

I've posted this in the Armies forum, but that might not have been the correct place. I'm not going to bother with the link. This is a 2,000 point game, with the house rule No Special Characters and a single unit point limit of 375. He runs:

Lord with Heroic Killing Blow, Paladin BSB, Damsel in a unit of Grail Knights. 3x3
Four Blocks of Knights of the Realm, 3x3
Two Trebuchets

My main problem is that he pounds the crap out of me with the trebuchets while I'm trying to get into a good charge position on him. Also, he's smart - he focuses fire on my big killy units (IE, my Mournfangs)

Adasi suggested in the other thread: an Ironblaster, a Scraplauncher, a couple of sabertusks, Mournfangs, some 10-gnoblar blocks of Trappers, a Great Maw SM (for The Maw spell), IG's to flank, and Leadbelchers. That's all well and good. I could use some tactical advice as well.

Help out a hungry tyrant?

EDIT: Sorry about posting in the wrong forum, Hragged. Thanks for moving it. :D

naloth:
You can probably count on going 1st if he sees the Ironblaster, so take a couple of sabretusks and head for his trebuchets. You should be able to pressure them starting on turn 2. Likewise the ironblaster is better suited to killing a trebuchet.

You need to get the charge to deny him the lance bonuses. I would take 2-3 smallish units of leadbelchers to use as bait/flee or redirecters to draw him in for your charge with IG or Mournfangs. I would leave the normal ogres at home and go w/Ironguts. You will need a BSB and either a SM w/banner of discipline or a tyrant for the ld9 + reroll for the panic checks you'll have to take using this tactic.

You can have fun with scouting maneaters. Nothing opens up flanks like having enemies in two directions.

Phazael:
I play Bretts a lot as my main tournament army and I have played this matchup a fair amount since the new book arrived, from both sides.  I can say that it really comes down to whether you brought two Ironblasters or not.  Charge or not, you should be able to engage most lances one on one with most comperable Ogre blocks.  The Ironblasters can neutralize Trebuchets in short order and grapeshot any peg knights that are trying to sneak around behind you.  Word of warning:  Any hero on a Peg likely has some sort of dirty trick up their sleave and shoult be a top priority to contain, even over Trebuchets.  If you see the giant grail bus, then you can address this with a stubborn character (either through buff or the Crown) solo charging the unit and challenging every turn, as he will have to accept or lose his ward save.  And let me tell you, most Brett players guard that blessing like it was their daughter's virginity.....

Thorgut Bonesmasher:
Another unit that will be useful against Brets is the humble Gnoblar unit with trappers to redirect etc.
