Is this acceptable?
« on: Jul 29, 2012, 09:33:26 PM »
I was wondering if this set-up would be acceptable for placement.
Thanks!

I'm assuming the top is the front of the unit.

If that's the case then the champion, Irongut standard bearer and musician has to be in front.

the only way a character can take the place of a command model is when the unit gets into close combat, then the characters can make way to the front.

If the unit isn't in combat then the characters have to stand in the second rank.
There is only news.  There is no good or bad.

due to the make way rules most reasonable opponents dont mind nonRAW deployment in this manner.  I wouldnt complain anyway.

Okay cool  8)
Another question!
Say this unit is now in combat and formed the way my illustration is, can I claim +1 bonus for standard being in the unit or does he have to be in the front rank to claim this bonus? A page reference would be appreciated if he has to be in the front rank to claim this bonus.
Thanks again!

Notes from a previous post:

Little note/ Summary on Command Group:

Musicians:
"onwards men" = Must be in Front Rank
"Form on me" and "Swift Reform" = Musician in unit not necessarily in front rank.
Removed as casualty before the standard bearer.

Standard Bearer/ BSB:
Combat Res bonus: Applies from any place in the unit.
Dies if unit flee's from combat.
Removed as casualty before the Champion.

Champion:
Last Rank and File guy to be removed from shooting attacks, wounds on unit etc.
Wounds overflow to him from unit but not from him to unit. Stick him on a corner to reduce wounds taken if expecting a lot.

Look them up in the rulebook where it introduces them and it explains the above.

When you are not in combat, all Command models must be in the front rank. Characters get booted to the rear.

Bellowers only work from the front rank so its important to make sure he doesn't get moved by Make Way.

Ogres can really work the command rules with our units being only 3 wide. It can make it impossable to attack RnF for at least one round of combat, which is always a nice little Combat rez annoyance.

Those choppy opponents suddenly can only get 3 combat rez out of the unit at most, plus whatever they do to your characters. Thats why Ogre characters should be as durable as possable. Absorb damage from the RnF.
Current win streak: 10
