characters riding monsters/chariots

Okay, I know that if you hit a character mounted on a monster with a cannonball it automatically hits both.  Can someone confirm or deny if it works the same when the character is mounted on a chariot?

In the character section it says that ridden chariots are treated exactly like Monsters for this purpose.

So the chariot is basically treated exactly like a ridden monster. It can be hit and killed seperatly from the character.
