Deathfist?
« on: Feb 16, 2012, 01:58:32 AM »
Hello tyrants and Slaughtermasters

I've been reading through the topics and i find a lot of topics about this "deathfist business".

I apologize for being "that noob" but can anyone explain what deathfist is and why its apparently so awesome?

Thank you!

Ps: i apologize for the grammar.

it refers to a SM taking the Greedy Fist and Lore of Death.

With the FAQ that the Greedy Fist has its magic level reduction ability on ranged attacks it works with the Fate of Bjuna and Carress of Laniph. Both cause 2D6 hits-the targets strength and pick out individual models.

Each hit will reduce the targets wizard level by 1.

plus you can bring purple sun every now and then, its a fairly strong butcher. While we're on the subject, do deathfisters usually bring the flying Carpet.

it comes in all varieties.  whatever you can squeeze in a butcher or pile on a slaughtermaster.

apparently it also makes you lose friends, gives you cancer, aids global warming and gives your baby to dingos... if you believe all the bad press other armies are giving it.

the only thing I don't get and I assume its why some people argue against the deathfist being legal is that the errata said ranged attacks. I thought spells didn't count as that technically. I could be wrong as before ogres I was dwarfs. And when ogres It was the old codex with no access to such stuff. So sorta just starting to do magic heavily now in this edition book

A ranged attack is any attack that has a range.

As an extra thought, the deathfisting combo is probably the combo with the nastiest name ever... or maybe it's just me... :P

I would run Lore of Beasts with the Greedy fist if I didn't have a strange feeling that Beastfisting might be illegal in the US.

I think it's less common to run the deathfist on the carpet, but I've had pretty good success with it.  The problem with the carpet if you don't have a lot of terrain to hide behind.  You're going to get blown to bits on the trip over since you cannot join a unit.

You know I was actually looking for this rule last week at the local game store.  But I was unable to find it,  I see that a character can not join a unit of fliers, but I do not see anything that says a flying character can not join a unit.

On that same not, the staff of sorcery +1 to dispel rolls.  It is in every army builder, but I can't seem to actually locate it in a book anyone able to help me out with a page reference?

The carpet itself says that you may not join a unit.

I BELIEVE that that staff of sorcery was one of the common magic items that didn't make the cut with the 8th ed rulebook, but remains in all the older army books still.

It is in the rule book FAQ.

There's a cheesy dwarf tactic involving a dwarf lord at the head of a column of stubborn dwarfs only two models wide (so the lord takes up the front rank). It got dubbed the Lordpedo - which immediately became the Lord Paedo.
