Strength of Impact hits and Stomps for Mournfangs

Anyone know how to infer from the rules which strength value I use for Stomps and Impact hits from Mournfang Cavalry?

You use the Strength from the mournfangs themselves (S5) IIRC.

I don't think they get Strength bonuses from extra ranks like normal ogre foot sloggers.

As the model is a Mournfang and not an Ogre, it is the mournfang who has the stomp rule. Therefore you use the mournfags Strength value.

At least that makes sense to me.

As for charging I am sure its the same. But I would have to look in the book which I dont have with me. I doubt that you will use the Ogres Strength value for impact hits though.

Each mornfang does d3 impact hits at S5. Nothing else.  All stomps are at S5 too.

I'm really looking for Page numbers or rule sections I could use to defend my choice of strength in an argument.  I only found 1 argument so far and that is for strenght 4 stomps.  The rules on Monstrous Cavalry say only that Monstorous cavalry have the Stomp special rule.  When I look at the Summary at the back of the book, I see only the riders are listed with a MC as their type.  The Mournfangs are listed as -.

the Mournfangs have D3 impact hits, not the Riders.

You use the thing doing the impact hits' strength.  The mournfang does the impact hits, so you use the mournfang's strength.

As for the unit type.  the whole model is treated as MC, when a mournfang is alone (I don't even think this is possible) then it is a MB. 

If people think you have to use the ogre's strength for the impact hits of the mournfang, then ask them to use their chariot's crew's strength for those impact hits and not the chariot's strength.  (that would make chariots SO much more lame)

sorry for bring back to life this tread, but i have a question, a stupid one maybe, its only 1 stomp?, mournfang stomp right?  bc Ogre rider also have de stomp rule... so its 1 stomp in total and not 1 ogre S4 stomp and 1 S5 mournfag stmop?

It's one model.  That means one stomp.  The stomp is S5

Mournfangs don,t have Ogre charge rule which is what gives the strength bonus per the impact hits so if you have a unit of 6 in to ranks of 3 you deal 3d3 s5 impact hits still nothing to fill bad about unless your on the receiving end

Hmmm.... wonder if i can convince my opponents that the mournfang AS WELL as the rider causes impact hits and that the rider still has the ogre charge rule.

I don't think I will have any friends left if I try that.

Look in the ogre charge rules.  It states that only the ogre charge rule only works if the model with it is on foot.  While mounted on a mournfang the ogre doesn't have any impact hits.  Fortunately, the cat does.

Oh well, I suppose for 60 points we can't really ask to get more bang.
