 Remember Prior to 2005 when ogres used to be flesh colored and the big fuss when GW Changed their studio Ogre's skin to Grey...?

That's exactly what I've been thinking.  In the grand scheme of things Ogres have been grey for less than 7 years - prior to that for the first 20 years they were 'flesh' coloured.  Some people preferred grey, some flesh.  At the end of the day it doesn't matter, 'cos you can paint them any colour you want - welcome to 'The Hobby'TM

This. They've been more fleshy than grey in the time I've been playing Warhammer, so it doesn't really bother me ;)

Another Gnoblar from me Zsoulless for your alternate versions of the cover :D

I think I could be murdered here, but....

I think I like the new skin tone better than the old one…

I feel it's much more vibrant, which I think suits a race as restless, brutal and hearty as the Ogres. I loved the old scheme for it's uniqueness, but to me it did make them a little dull compared the the other, brighter races of Warhammer. That third pic... I dunno, just doesn't do it for me as much as the second or even first one.
I don't suffer from mental instability. In fact, I enjoy it immensely.

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.

And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.

While we are burning you at the stake...  8) ((I could care less what color ogres are..))
Campy? Er, I wouldn't perhaps have used that term (I've never seen Nanki-Poo played by a 10-foot tall, tattooed, bloody-mouthed Ogre wearing an entire armoury and with those teeth), but I understand people's criticisms.
I kind of ignored this before but what does campy have to do with "Nanki-Poo"..?  :P

[“Campy” adj. refers to intentionally exaggerated thematic or genre elements, especially in television and motion picture mediums. “Camp” style willfully over-emphasizes certain elements of the genre or theme, creating an almost self-satirical milieu.]

EDIT* looks like there are two different definitions for that term.. Never associated that term with being perverse or suggestive..
~Broke open my ancient Webster's to make sure I wasnt crazy and it defines campy as a parody or spoof~

I do like the Blue army book better than the orange one though.

Well, I agreed that G&S could be a bit campy generally (not Nanki-Poo specifically, Poo-Bah probably would have been a better choice), but I didn't really see how that campyness was a quality shared by that Ogre on the cover, I was trying to disassociate the two.

Huh? Your dictionary is different to mine. Under 'camp' in mine it just says 'Kenneth Williams'.

Sorry mate, it doesn't have the same effect with multiples. Have you ever seen more than one incoherent preacher in a single bell tower?

The one thing that keeps bothering me is the fact is its no longer snowy on the army book or in white dwarf. Its like they got up and moved to the wastes.

WD does talk about the great migration a lot, so they're probably just doing the whole "I came, I saw, I ate it" thing.

If you were a Roman-styled civilization as in one that conquers all set before them, your scenery would change too.  If you ever watched the HBO TV show that shows Rome and all its' greatness, they had similar discussions. lol  When they would take long campaigns into foreign lands, many of them wanted to go back to their vision of Rome.  However, since many of them came from different parts or joined in different times or for different reasons their vision of Rome was very different.

I personally liked the visual look of grey ogres, but I got knocked too hard on painting scores with my Beastmen to paint a dark army like that with no color, and I do not see ogres in bright cloths. hehe

*smashes difisher a good one just "because"*

I am thinking of making that volcano theme, my friends are really pushing me to do it and I think I will like it. The bases will be a lot different, that for sure. I also think I will have the skin tones a dark gray with slightly lighter highlights... that way the red and oranges from the pants will really stick out.
