The Alternative Ogre Mega Thread
« on: Mar 24, 2011, 10:53:20 AM »
Thought I would try something, see if I can get a ball rolling... Post here pictures and links of models which would be great for Ogre Kingdoms armies, to keep ideas all in the one place!

Here are a few I have come across:

Avatar of War [Alternative Bruiser/Tyrant]

http://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/miniatures/avatars-of-war/aow-ogre-hero.html

Avatar of War [Alternative Sabertusk]

http://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/miniatures/avatars-of-war/dire-wolf.html

[EDIT] I purchased one of these, but they really don't fit in with ogres so I am now returning it to the seller.
Ron & Bones [Alternative Leadbelcher/Bellower]

http://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/miniatures/tale-of-war-miniatures/ron-bones-pirate-miniatures-sloot-gunner.html

OK can be competitive at a tournament, I just tell kids i'm going to beat them up in the parking lot if they win.

Good idea!

This female Ogre has cropped up a few times here at the Stronghold as a Butcher/Slaughtermistress:

http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/ogre/sku-down/65105

Rackham's Firebrand Ogre makes a good Empire themed Leadbelcher, Maneater or Tyrant if you can get hold of one:

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?rt=nc&LH_PrefLoc=2&_nkw=Firebrand%20Ogre&_fln=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m283

I'm quite fond of the massive Otherworld Giant (he comes with different head options and his base isn't fixed to his feet so you can easily put him on a GW Giant base):

http://www.otherworld.me.uk/gseries.html

I reckon this Dire Bear would make a good 'counts-as' Gorger while still being quite fluffy:

I have one of those DragonRune Ogres too (Gorbag the Elder), I use him in my Mordheim warband :)

Gamezone's Chaos Trolls could be used as Yhetees:

Taban Miniatures makes a few that might do well as Ogre models.

Like this big fella here:

This guy could make a good BB Ogre perhaps:

I like the reaper models, how well do they compare in size to the standard gw ogre

They don't look out of place next to a big character but against Bulls they might seem a little large.

I'm using these as Yhetees. Lovely figures. A bit small, but don't look too out of place once they're on a 40mm base.

The answer to everything is sabretusks.  ;) There is no problem that can't be solved at least in part with kitties.

Could make an awesome Tyrant with only a little greenstuff work on the gut. No idea about size but the base is way larger than their usual models and it is supposed to be a Giant, so might be a bit overkilly, but that's just the way I like it ;>)

Their tears will be a perfect addition to the Butcher's cauldron.

This is the Fire Giant from reaper as well. Looks like a Tyrant that is good friends with some dwarfs.

The Triad would make a great Maneater w/ Cathayan Longsword.
Their tears will be a perfect addition to the Butcher's cauldron.
