Viking theme
« on: May 04, 2010, 06:29:55 PM »
I'm currently considering making a viking theme for my ogre kingdoms army.

Hunter with two wolfs, and two ravens to represent odin or oden.
Ironguts with huge axes as greatweapons.
Ad horned helmets to many of my troops.

But i'm lacking more ideas. Another big set back is i cant seem to figure how to squeeze leadbelchers into this viking themed army. Ideas and thoughts are most welcome  ;)

Leadbelchers as thunder mages?
Kind of like the space wolf rune people.
It would take some converting, but fits in with the fluff.
Hope I've helped

Well Vikings had trolls in their mythology, and the spell trollguts would indicate that ogres have access to trolls, so how about a bound troll they club or squeeze to vomit on command. Or maybe even riding the trolls (Heavily chained) into combat while holding a gag stick or something?.

Maybe give your leadies gaint crossbows instead of cannons, that should fit the theme nicely, with the pointy helmets and all.

o yea, don't forget the tribal shields for your bulls (can play it as ironfists maybe?)

Maybe also a few fur coats here and there, and some red or yellow pony tail mustaches  :P
There is only news.  There is no good or bad.

I have seen people doing the obelix thing with ogres - carrying a large menhir.

How about ogres carrying large viking runestones they throw at people. Even one posed throwing would get the point across while the others just carry them.

Misfire means he dropped it on his foot  :P

Well, you could go totally nuts and have a "count as" slavegiant in the shape of a viking ogre riding the Midgardsormen.. or have your hunter be accompanied by Fenris, the giant wolf that would swallow the sun under Ragnarok.. For banners, look at the "bow heads" (or whatever they are called) on the viking Longships..

Just make sure to do a bit of research before beginning with such a theme..

Plenty of norse legends regarding dwarfs/goblins.

I personally think you could just use gnoblars as they are. Maybe give them shields and command groups to make them look a bit different, even if it didn't count in the game.

If you have plenty of bitz handy, you could try and model your gnoblars with picks and shovels, just to make them look like miners living underground - would match the norse theme,
