Gut Skull Tribe...

I have finally been able to finish a large chunk of my Empire army and will commence on the Ogre Kingdom minis soonish. I have however tried out a color set and look that I am quite pleased with. Note that I am aiming for an army standard that looks good on the table but doesn't take all that long to finish (for me that is since my Empire army has taken a full year almost).

The skin is done with a more dark oriental look in mind. I started off with snakebite and worked my way up to bronze flesh (some five shades with a glaze). Then I finished it off with a Vallejo smoke ink.

The steel metal is done by painting it beast brown, drybrushed with light orange, highlighted with thinned boltgun and washed twice with medium thick Tamiya smoke.

The blood is done with a mix of scorched brown, red ink, blood red, and highlighted with thick Tamiya Clear Red.

Expect a butcher and four more Bulls with a week or two (first doing my Marauder Giant for my Empire army).  8)

Snow is GW but I have tested other brands to the same effect. Put thinned PVA on the base and spread the snow flakes on top. Thin the PVA even more after the first has dried and paint over the snow with the really thin glue. Works very well.

Not a Gut Skull Ogre but a almost complete Empire Giant (the new Giant will be done when the new Empire minis are out) which, is to a 90% done. I still need to fix some on the skin as well as minor stuff. The base will get grass and some funny things (the green rim sucks but I started my Empire this way and continue with it).

Gee, seems you are just ' steam - rolling' along with your army projects :)

The blood effect on the sword is the best part of the model, I think. Need more blood puddles on the base though ;)

While I wrote that I would start with my Ogres soonish, soon is a fractional word at best...

Here is my first Ogre character standing right of my first OK mini (except the stuff I have done for my Empire army) to the left. While he is not my best work, without the flash (I still dunno how to take decent pics) he is quite the character. I know many dislike blood on their minis (not real blood...) but I wanted this butcher to look depraved beyond sanity. There will be a unit accompanying this lard bloke which, if you look to the left, is the first of five.

I used snake, vomit and bronze in five shades altogether with two glazes and two washes with thinned Tamyia smoke (the bull got Vallejo previously). The blood is suppose to look dried as well as new and was done with black, Tamiya red, and skin tone from the new Vallejo inks.

The blood on the butcher is VERY nicely done. and that Empire dude next to the giant. Is that a conversion or a Mordheim model?

Mordheim mini for my Reikland warband (I play WFB and Warhammer only). The band also includes this heavily converted dude (I have shown him before but he is my favorite Ogre so I will show him again):

Thanks for the comments BTW.  :)

Remade the butcher and finished painting my Yeheetes (there is now frost on the weapons not seen in the pic) and assembled my Rhinox Riders (the chopper style is intentional). I am working on some ironguts, maneaters (all have handguns) as well as some bulls, and you can see the gutlord below with the Tyrant's special pet (armourer captive). More pics soon.  8)

Great conversions!
I'm not a big fan of the Yethee models, but the paint job looks good.
The Mordheim Ogre is grand, real mercenary-like and would be a neat Maneater too.

Looking foreward to more!
BTW the captured pet is hilarious.  :P

Are those Rhinoxen in the pics the ForgeWorld models or some sort of metal model and if so where can I get them? (don't look like the FW models and Scappie rhinox is too small, don't want to decap. plastic rhinos) THe riders look like they've been converted to fit the mounts with copious amounts of green stuff. PS what size bases do RHinoxen Riders use? I know it is a 50mm x ??mm rectangular base?

Cool, a pet gnoblar! He can be named Squisqueek.

Those are Scraplauncher Rhinoxen.
The FW ones are Bull Rhinoxen, they are more powerfull and expensive.
They come with chariot bases, 50 x 100mm I believe.
