Redoing my Ogres
« on: May 17, 2009, 06:37:34 PM »
Hey Everyone.
Ive been playing Ogres for a few years now.. Over the course of the last few years my modeling and painting skills have increased, and my Old Ogre army is looking rather tired so ive decided to rebuild my old army..

Heres my test model.

He will be from the Gutripper tribe and Ill be adding Gore((pva glue+blood red+ red&black ink)) after I get his weapons attached and hes all dull coated..

Please, Tell me what you think!

Now all we need is the 7th edition rule that said if the models are killed they don't get to fight and we WOULD be a broken army! lol

Thanks!
The skin color is actually straight from page 46 in the OK army book.. I use a Wet pallet((i.e. a tuperware container+paper towel, just add water)) so my paints are rather watered down and I can mix colors as I go. the only real change I did was add a little diluted red ink around his lips to make them look fleshy..
& The gut plate and other metals are basic NNM..

My goal is that they will all look just as dynamic from acrossed the table as they do up close..

Very, very cool looking model, that skin is fantastic. But why is he on a 40k base? :P

But why is he on a 40k base? :P
Its just my painting base.. Its a 25mm round base on an old empty glass paint pot.. I use it to paint all my figs.. Its easier to handle.. Ill transfer him to a fantasy base when hes all painted up.

Thanks Everyone!
The blood Gore is: PVA glue+blood red+red ink+black ink = Eewwww.. It looks really gross in RL.. No one wants to touch it because it looks like its still wet..
Yes.. He is my Troop standard.. Trick is I already have an Ogre army so I really can take my time with this one.. Good thing to.. Because im not the fastest painter..
Ill look into starting a blog here once I Have my bases worked out and get started on my next Bull..

I really like it.  Really grim looking skin with nice detail.  Can you tell me exactly what you did with that Gut Plate?  I haven't seen a look like that before.  Also really nice blue.  Not too dark not too bright.

The Gut plate is NMM((Non Metalic Metal)).
How I did it was: (&like I said before I use a Wet Pallet)
Base coat of Bestial brown, then used a wash of Badab Black for my Shadows, then highlighted first with 50/50 bestial brown+snakebite leather, then again with just diluted Snakebite leather, then I did all the Bright highlights with Bubonic Brown. lastley I added a touch of skull white to the Bubonic brown and hit the bolt heads and few of the sharp edges with it..
I think I ended up with a nice aged Bronze Look..

It is a Basic base.. just some plasticard,GS,sand, then Drybrush... add a touch of flock and snow

I was considering sculpting interlocking bases then casting them in clear resin(with a light frosted tint) so I could make them look like they are walking on a glacier.. Some paint, a few frozen rats/gnoblars/bones inside the Ice, Snow, Ice sickles..

But I still need to order some more clear resin.. SO I opted for the basic Quick and now bases instead...
