Returning to the Maw...
« on: Feb 21, 2009, 10:28:10 PM »
Hello, Hi, Hey, and all that!

I was once semi-active here with a Empire styled Ogre army that seemed to be well liked. I sold most of my stuff, including the stuff I had commissioned from a local talent (a GS master), and left this fine place. Time was a factor and I decided to keep my fantasy focus on just one fantasy army (Empire). My love for Ogres never left me however and I had a Irongut unit commissioned from Mike Butcher.

I intend to start a new army - Ogres for several reasons; the novel Savage Kingdoms, rereading the OK army book, the plastic models, and the opportunity to do some simple conversions on my own. The only thing I've kept from my old collection was the Maneaters (seen below). I am not interested in doing an Empire styled army anymore. I like the crude half-naked Ogre culture and intend to fluff-use my Maneaters as returning Ogres from the Old World.

But before I start a Gnoblog, I wanted to start off by showing two items that Mike Butcher did for me. I painted them both, but the real skill lies with the nice conversion work Mike did with both the Ironguts and my Empire Giant. At the end of this post you can also see my WIP of the Maneaters I intend to use in my OK army (pray I keep my interest up). Only one of them is completed and I have shown him here before (Mike didn't do these).

Mike also did this fine looking Chimera for my IG Ogryns (can't wait until May).

But next up is a Gnoblog with some real nasty looking Ogres.  8)

Here is the first unit for that army.

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.

And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.

Excellent work. I thought you were going away from the empire ogres? Those primed ogres don't look very half-naked and savage.
Is this going to be a gnoblog? If so, it'll get moved to the right board.
If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.

These are the maneaters hence the outfit. :)

Thanks folks.

good stuff! I look forward to the rest of it! So will you be keeping an ogre theme now as opposed to the Empire theme yes?

Yes the only thing that will have an Empire feel is the maneaters.

Thanks.

The giant is simply awesome!!!

I really like the ironguts and the man eaters too, aswell as the modeling they are also painted really well.

I'm sure you'll have a great army once all is finished!
