Really? A piece of plasticard in the shape of a cross is disrespectful? I think I have worse things on the walls of my bathroom .... remind me never to show you guys too much of my life outside of Warhammer.

@Speedkills, do you have a problem with the model?

IMO contributers, especially younger ones, have the right, if not the duty, to explore borders. The last thing we should do is to discourage Ein Windir or JJ or the others to do so. If I had a personal problem with the pic I would have pmed you or left quietly. I did not do this.

However, I myself would not have posted this pic to this forum. The reason is quite simple and it is not because of pc:

A pic of a man being cruzified (sp?) is deeply embedded in the western community. So deep that it might overshadow everything else. As soon as Windir has finished his work, this pic will be very bad publicity wherever it appears. Whether it is in a magazine, in a competition or in a forum. It will be bad for business.

Wow, this got controversial in a hurry.
I'd suggest taking the pictures down and keeping the model in whatever way you'd like and would be accepted in your community. The problem with the internet is you get viewpoints from people all over the world, where small things might have huge implications. It seems like it's going to offend people or otherwise cause trouble on the internet, so I'd say you should probably not show it off on a global forum like this or just change it.
How boring.

Too late, I put this pictures on Bolter and Chainsword.

it would be a shame to se the cross go but i guess that religion cannot accept people sees things differently so i guess for the sake of that dreaded pc i say change it slightly and looking at all the grieve thats arisen over your photo i will be changing my design slighty.
hopefully this subject will settle down and allow you get on with your project.
Anton, at the risk of derailing this thread, that is seriously close to bashing. I only mention this because the topic has already been brought up and I do NOT want this thread to go down that road (and I'm sure Ein Windir agrees). Please let the matter lie.

Well, I was look at the forge world web site and saw they have the big eagle brass etchings.  If I replace the horizontal section with the eagle would it still offend people as much?

I wanted peoples opinions on the subject, or as least ideas on how to change it, but still convey fear in the enemies but also fanticism of loyalty to the emperor.

Personally i think that'd be awesome, it'd avoid quite a bit of the antagonism that you'd otherwise get... thoguh i daresay some people still might not like it

i dont know what your GS skills are like but the ideal thing that springs to my mind is from Silence of the Lambs, a guard is strung up and his flayed skin stretched out to resemble the wings of an angel (or in the case of this model an eagle)... though it'd be alot of work to manage it

Personally, I have no problems with the current version at all - but I think that the imperial eagle version of it would simply be awesome :)

back on topic, i too didn't have any personal issue with it, but people (including GW themselves) easily could have and i think that was where the whole debate started

Great idea StoneDog, although I do still prefer the current version :) Call it devil's advocate if you will :P However, to appease those who just love to find faults, your idea is probably better :)

And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.

Well my GS skill are very weak still.  I'm trying to make changes so some people aren't that offended, but I can't make everyone happy.  So I order some brass etchings of the imperial eagle, which I hope i'll get in 2-5 weeks.

This weekend I'm going to start to paint one test Bull.  I'll take pics throughout this ordeal. ;)

Whatever you do to the model, it will look cool. I just wanted to warn you that an image that has such a strong meaning to so many people will draw controversy.
If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.

Well, I have nothing new to post .  This was the last weekend of the classic car shows in my area, plus Sunday was our car clubs "Fall Colors Tour".  Now that i'm depressed that I have to put the car away for another season, also gives me a chance to put alot more time into Warhammer (maybe finish of my chainmaille shirt).  Hopefully should get something done tonite. Hopefully.

How about having him nailed directly on to the tank? It should work fine while being quite easy to do.

I was thing of that, but I didn't want to clutter the front of the tank.

** Update**

Well I lost again to night.  I was playing a Daemon army, so my lost doesn't feel too bad.  I also manage to work on my LotD squad.

^ Ugghhh.. I don't like the fit of the old devies.

Well, I'm going to bed.  I got work in the morning.

Well, about $300cdn for 51 guys (including Sgt Centurius).  They are all classic legion bodies and bits.  The lighting is not the best (I took this picture at 11:30 EST).  As soon as the new LotD models come out the army size is going up to about 70 or so.

Let me guess...? Ebay! :) That's a hell of a lot of money :) Awesome models nonetheless :)

I've heard more rumours that discredit this, than back it up :| Although, that would decrease the value of the old one, thereby decreasing the profit Ebayers can make from it :)

Unfortunately I was unable to get through to the pictures as they wouldn't load properly, but after reading the other posts I thought it might have been because of the whole stupid controversy thing.
Suffice it to say it is a sad, sad state of affairs when a person has to censor art in order to fit in with the beliefs of others, especially when nobody is being hurt in the process.
Of course crucifixion of Jesus is the most common image that comes to mind when confronted with the image of crucifixion in a general sense, but I'm sure if someone wanted to be disrespectful to a religion, they could think of more effective ways than to make a plastic model (Which, by the way, was not built for such a purpose). If anyone considers it disrespectful, then perhaps they should re-evaluate their level of political correctness, and accept the fact that other people may not share their values, and may in fact consider their self-righteousness and expectation of self-censorship to be just as unacceptable and offensive.

Hmmm... That's odd :| Well, I barely remember what I said, but it was something along the lines of having heard few rumours supporting the Centurius idea, but it would be a great method of stopping Ebayers making huge profits from the old model :) And they did do it with Captain Sicarius afterall :)
