I have updated the battlescribe files made by omgitzrick

I didn't make any files! I just pm'd about not being able to make it work. I don't want to steal credit for someone else's work!

The Feeding Grounds / Re: Wildcard's Ogre Achievements Thread
« on: Jan 23, 2012, 07:24:20 AM »
Played my 2nd game ever this weekend (1st game was last weekend). These are the achievements I racked up between the two games:

1. Gettin Started - Play a game of warhammer using the new ogre book
2. Going Large - Play a game of warhammer of over 2000 points using the new ogre book
3. Brace for impact! - During a game, an ogre unit successfully charges and rolls 10+ on the dice
7. Oooo, shiny! - buy one of the models new to the ogre range
11. Boom! Hur, Hur, Hur - field a unit of 5+ leadbelchers and shoot with them at least 4 times in a single game.
12. Say hello to my little friend! - field an ironblaster in your army
17. Getting warmer! - field a firebelly in your army
32. Past their sell-by date - win a game using ogres vs. Tomb kings
38. Convert one of the new range of ogre models
39. Oops! - destroy either a scraplauncher or an ironblaster with a misfire
42. What that coming over the hill? - field a unit of 4+ mornfangs
79. Box clever - construct, buy or convert a new carry case for your ogre army
80. Altered beast power up! - boost every unit in your army with a single augment from the lore of the great maw
81. ...and you play Ogres!? - Have more war machine weapons in your army than your opponent.

The Feeding Grounds / Re: 2nd caster: butcher or firebelly?

My first Firebelly was a mess of holes, his hammer was bent and his fingers and toes destroyed by flash. Called GW and got a replacement, which was worse :(

I think your Butcher build might be illegal. I don't think you can have a Greedy Fist and Dragonbane Gem on one character because they're both Talismans.

I had success last weekend with the following 1000 points. Played against TKs.

Butcher - Level 2 - Dispell Scroll, Ironcurse Cross - Ironfist

Ironguts x5 - Full command - Standard of Discipline (Butcher goes here)

Leadbelchers x4 - Bellower
Mournfang Cavalry x3 - Bellower - Heavy armor - Ironfists

Ironblaster

1000 points on the nose, was a lot of fun :)

Exactly enough points left for an extra Irongut :)

I'd take the Standard of Discipline for the Ironguts personally, which uses up less than a third of what you've allocated.

Personally I'd go with an extra hand weapon for the Firebelly but it's really personal preference. Hellheart is a great choice, though if you wanted to save some points for something else then I'd say go with a simple Dispell Scroll. At 1000 points your opponent is only likely to have 1 wizard, so the Hellheart might be overkill.

Edit:

Firebelly - lvl 2 - dispell scroll - extra hw - 182pts

Ogres x6 - full command - ironfists - 222pts
Ironguts x6 - full command - standard of discipline - 303pts

Leadbelchers x4 - full command - 192pts

Now you have 101 points to spend. That'll get you 2 units of 10x Gnoblar Trappers if you wanted some flank protection, or a unit of 20 if you want a bit of a tarpit... Alternatively you could add 2 Ironguts and have a pretty nasty 3x3 (with the Firebelly). There's a few options :)

Thanks for the updates. Just noticed the Mournfang Cavalry armor thing, then discovered it had already been fixed :)

Armies of the Kingdoms / Re: 1000 points, new to Fantasy
« on: Jan 12, 2012, 07:02:24 AM »
If I'm Correct, you are 10 pts. over.

Oh you're right! Battlescribe counted 5 points to upgrade 3 Mournfang Cavalry to heavy armor, instead of 5 points per model. I'd probably drop the Leadbelcher's Bellower and keep the armor.

I love the Mournfang models so I kinda want to keep them in. I've heard they're fantastic, especially at lower points levels, so I thought they'd be pretty effective. Do you disagree?

I'd love to use a Firebelly but the model I bought is damaged and the replacement I received today appears to be in even worse shape :( I'm waiting on a response from GW to get another replacement... So Butcher it is, for now.

Armies of the Kingdoms / 1000 points, new to Fantasy
« on: Jan 11, 2012, 11:58:18 PM »
Hey guys,

I'm yet to play a game of Fantasy (been following 40k for a few years though). The Fantasy bug bit me recently and I've bought a whole bunch of Ogre gear, because they look badass and I like the smaller unit sizes of monstrous infantry.

Anyway I'm playing my first game this weekend. We've agreed on 1000 points and this is what I have in mind. I'd love some advice.
  • Butcher, level 2 wizard, Dispell scroll
  • Ironguts x6, full command, Standard of Discipline
  • Leadbelchers x4, Bellower
  • Mournfang Cavalry x3, Heavy Armor
  • Ironblaster
Exactly 1000 points

Here's what I have at my disposal:
24 Gnoblars (plus a whooooole bunch of spares from the million sprues I have)
18 Ogres
16 Ironguts
12 Leadbelchers
4 Mournfang Cavalry
2 Ironblaster/Scraplaunchers
1 Thundertusk/Stonehorn
1 Butcher/Slaughtermaster
1 Firebelly

The only things I've assembled so far are the Butcher, and the Gutlord and Bellower for the Ironguts, but I'm running out of time :)

Sorry for the late response but I've been busy as hell with my car in the shop and swamped with work thanks to the end of the year.

For those who don't see Ogre Kingdoms in the drop down list, make sure you're selecting the appropriate Game System. The new one is called "Warhammer Fantasy Battle" instead of just "Warhammer Fantasy". I included a new WHFB game system file because I couldn't stand the old one having "ST" instead of "S" in the profiles.

Alternatively, here is a version of the Catalogue that should be compatible with the old WHFB game system file and its awful ST abbreviation, if that's your cup of tea.

Hey man, thanks for getting back to us. I still have problems even if your GST and CAT files are the only ones in Battlescribe. I dunno what I am doing wrong, but I really appreciate your efforts! I'm not using your alternate version successfully, though I agree that it's annoying to see ST rather than S.

Shoulda known it was a goon doing such fine work. I'm Digital Jesus over there. Cheers again  :D

Just installed Battlescribe on another computer to test and yeah definitely not getting the OK catalogue to show up at all :(

Can't open in Catalogue Editor either. Gives a rather lengthy Java error. I've opened the file in TextEdit and the formatting is rather different to that of other .cat files, dunno if that matters? Nothing I do seems to fix it though :( I really want to use this so it'd be awesome if it gets fixed, or someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong!

Very helpful advice for a new player. Appreciated!

You need to have Battlescribe. The zip includes just datafiles for Battlescribe to use, it doesn't work by itself.

Anyway, it was brought to my attention that the zip I uploaded contained an error, I fixed the error in version 1.1. Here's the link:

https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B1W42eogAf-lMDQwMDIwZmUtNWQ5Ni00ZDViLTg0ZDQtZjcxNTIzYzBiMDc5

Quick tutorial:
Download Battlescribe from www.battlescribe.net and install it.
Open the Battlescribe Roster editor.
Go to File -> Import Data file...
Import both "Warhammer Fantasy[S fix].gst" and "Ogre Kingdoms [8th].cat" from the zip file I provided.
You're done!

To use the catalog just hit New Roster, select "Warhammer Fantasy Battle" as your game system and "Ogre Kingdoms 8th Edition" as your catalogue.

Followed this exactly but Ogre Kingdoms never shows up in the Catalogues menu :( I've been using Battlescribe for ages with 40k and never had an issue, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong... I've tried manually moving the gst and cat files, and importing them via the File menu. Any suggestions?
