Great!

Nice to see Mantic developing a more unique style instead of 'GW, but not quite as good'.

Exactly...

Some times ago on the web we read rumors about warhammer contingents... maybe new mercs. Maybe new models and rules for kislev. Maybe...

The Feeding Grounds / Re: So I'm back... It's hard being an Ogre...

I play Ogres for three things mainly:

1) Models/Painting/Converting (I don't see myself ever being finished with this army - even my terrain is Ogrefied)
2) The fluff and the neutrality of this army (the only real - I can fight anywhere against anyone - army there is)
3) The way Ogres play - even when we had limited units I still loved it

I frequent this site because it is hands down the least whining site on the web and it has Ogres in it.

THIS!

The Feeding Grounds / Re: Ogre ranking in 8th ed

I agree, we are in the top half. But, let me say, this kind of ranking is quite useless... and a little silly!

Nice NICE minis!

In my opinion Ogres without ironfist are quite useless. I always field them in a unit of 9 (minimum) because they are cheaper than Ironguts AND because of the 6+ save, Otherwise they are not so effective and very fragile.

The Feeding Grounds / Re: Thundertusk in a tournament list?
« on: Jan 16, 2012, 11:29:17 AM »
Just played yesterday in a 2500 NL Tournament.

It has been very useful. Lost it only in one game (3 in total). 2 games against Daemons, one against Dark Elves.

Very effective thank for his special rule "enemies always strike last", good in combat. Funny to use. He needs support (and must support others).

I think a lot depends on your playing style!

Thinling Realms / Re: Vampire Counts out in January... ?

During the last Games Day Jervis Johnson said they changed the way they build army book. Previuously ony one man was the rules writer with minor adjustaments by others GD. Now they work differenty, like a team, and the final result is a summa of a number of minds. And this seems to produce great results in terms of variery and balance.

Got the book, expensive as usual but I have to admit that it seems quite balanced.

Clearly we have to see VC on the battlefield but GW did a good job in my opinion...

If warseer is to believed on points , it means their monstrous infantry is better the ours.

Can be, but the rest of the army is zombies, skeletons and naked ghouls. I wonder how good are new chavalries.

Go for 1/2 Butcher, create a BSB and take an Ironblaster!

Human stupidity is limitless. However, as everything you read on internet, it is not so important... The most important think is that we have now a good army book with a lot of interesting and playable troops. and this GIVES US FUN. Stop. Everything can be killed by everything (well, almost!) on WH, especially in 8th edition so... Who cares what they say?

This can be a pain, you must keep in mind that it can happen. It is important to move as quick as possible to combat and try to avoid it with dispell, hellheart, covers.

Really nice minis... I'll expand my VC contingent, maybe to a true complete army!

I keep hearing about VC or Empire as next book, personally I'd love to see WE or Dwarves instead.  At least from my experiences they are the 2 that need it the most.

Just my two cents...

I agree. However VC are one of the best selling army and I guess that, after chrismas, GW needs to keep as long as they can sales high. Dwarves would be a good choice, Empire too. According to rumors VC are the chosen. Not bad for me, I'm just sad for poor Wood Elves, a beautiful army that would deserves a lot better (and Dwarves deserve better miniature and plastic kits!).

Thinling Realms / Vampire Counts out in January... ?
« on: Dec 19, 2011, 08:21:21 AM »
So, it seems that the next army book will be Vampire Counts. This is due to the fact that they sell well  8) and to fix their lore of magic. Main rumors:

- 2 lores of magic, one for Vampire, one for Necromancer;
- Black Cavalry now less expensive;
- Reintroduction of BLOOD LINES, and one mount for each blood line (es: Terrorgheist for Strigoi, black Coach for Von Carstein ecc ecc).
- Ghouls as special troop;
- Heroes can join a zombie unit;
- New unit of monstrous infantry (zombie golem?).

Excited?

I use it everyday as paperweight and I think it is excellent (mine is in metal).

Salut!

Many thanks for reporting your impressions. I also read rules about fighting underground and considering neutral monsters and the particular shape of the battlefields I think they are the best part of the book.

I bought the book but I was a little disappointed once read as I stated in another topic: rules are poorly described and very simple...
Did someone used the rules of this book?
Are you happy about it? Let's talk!

Thinling Realms / Re: As the year draws to a close....
« on: Dec 05, 2011, 10:32:43 AM »
Exaclty. 2000 pts of equipment usually means 1/2 equipment pieces, so the game won't slow too much.
However Blood in the Badlands has been a great disappointment for me. Neverthless, 2011 has been a great year for WHFB in general and for Ogres in particular.
I'm happy for the game and for the support GW is providing. Less for their prices but hey, this is WH...
