I had to chime in. I'm one of the Randroids buddys that he mentioned in the first blog post. I'm the dude who is starting O&G from the starter box. Unlike his slow descent into the Warhammer tabletop, I have been playing 40K for a few years, and have always been leery of the FB rules and movement differences. With him and another buddy from work (RS - the owner of the dwarfs), I have made that cannonball plunge into WarhammerFB.
As Randroid has mentioned, we are just starting and that organ gun has been rough even to my poor lil' gobbos. Never has it misfired in three games...never less than four shots too if I remember correctly... Anyway, we also realized, of course a day later, that Randroid should have won the two combats due to Flanking. I misinterpreted the flanking rules and we still added the rank bonuses to the dwarfs, thus making the CR matched, so, with the musician's tie breaker it went belly up. But, like he has said we have all made a pile of mistakes, and we all have a bit of a rules lawyer inside us so it works out for the better. He took it pretty well though, but in my opinion his Ironguts still would have swallowed those stunty 'lil punks in one more turn, that is if they didn't go running their knobby little feet off the board.
So, Live and Learn. I'm looking forward to seeing his muscle bound monstrosities tear through those stupid little Dwarfen dregs once more.
And yeah, that first turn miscast-gas was priceless, I think even the soulless gaming machine that is the THURMANATOR cracked a smile.
