I use Snotlings as Gnoblars

I've added snow to the bases since these pictures

An awesome sculpt - really liking that a lot.

A couple of ogre figures I have, which are both nice.

Celtos Miniatures Balor of the Dreadful Eye - very nice mini which fits perfectly on a 40mm base and comes with a back banner, making him a useful standard bearer or maybe even BSB

Warploque Miniatures new Undead Ogre Crewman - perfect as a Gorger for a pirate themed army - crisply cast resin mini that again fits nicely on a 40mm base

I like the banner with the barrel of weapons on top.

I don't think I have seen that conversion before.

Thats a really army - good job on that.

Particular like the repose on one of the Gorgers, the two gun ogre and the nice big unit of Gnoblars.

I love Mr Beardy with the two iron fists - a conversion with heaps of character.

I had a few figures knocking round doing very little so I decided to tart them up for Ogre service as I have a liking for random odd figures.

Fenryll miniatures Yeti

Inquisition Miniatures Yeti

The Old GW Slave Ogre (now a small but angry Gorger)

I must admit that for the animated hulks in my Zombie Pirates, I just added pirate 'stuff' and painted them green.

11
They have a certain 'something' - nice job.

There used to be an issue with using LOTR models for WFB at offical competitions i.e. they didn't let you.

I can understand why you don't want to paint 80 gnoblars but I'm not entirely sure if having your ogres haunted by Dark Age warriors is going to keep the pirate theme.

If you are going with the ghosts then you might as well use any and all figures you can get your hands on and paint them ghostly - I'm sure your ogres have racked up all types of victims over the years.

The painting and basing for the Wolfen look great and they are certainly nice figures to start off with.

The big beastie looks large enough to represent a giant.

Are you going to try and use anything in theme to represent Gnoblars?

14
That looks great.

I'm tempted to do the same sort of thing to my Skrag but I'm going to wait until the new OK book comes out, to see what they do to Skrag

A very small update . . . .

My previous gorger (the old mutant ogre figure which most people think is a troll) . . .

. . . was tarted up somewhat and included in my troll army so . . . .

. . . I replaced him with this, which is indeed a troll, a RAFM undead one

Yay - Halflings are cool!

Nice conversion work and very good painting.

Plenty of norse legends regarding dwarfs/goblins.

I personally think you could just use gnoblars as they are. Maybe give them shields and command groups to make them look a bit different, even if it didn't count in the game.

If you have plenty of bitz handy, you could try and model your gnoblars with picks and shovels, just to make them look like miners living underground - would match the norse theme,

I have seen people doing the obelix thing with ogres - carrying a large menhir.

How about ogres carrying large viking runestones they throw at people. Even one posed throwing would get the point across while the others just carry them.

Misfire means he dropped it on his foot  :P

I think they look very good.

Given their rather dynamic clambering pose, they could also work as proxies for Yhetees

There must be some room for Yhetees in your army - they are the ultimate beardy-wierdies.

Greenstuff some beards on to their already hairy bodies and replace their weapons with giant flowers.

A gorger would be a good basis for a 'bad trip ogre'. He's either have some of the 'brown acid' and is on a trip, or too many brownies and he has the munchies. Either way he's running around the board causing trouble.

The Butcher's Cauldron / Re: Alternate Halfling Models?

This is still the best option I am aware of for cheap decent halfling figures - if you want them to count as gnoblars then they are perfect - lots of different posess. Maybe not so good if you want a solid looking combat unit

What model(s) did you use for Throgg?

It is a resin model produced by Gribbly Miniatures - their 'not - Throgg" Troll King

Nice looking army! Are they the classic troll models or something else?

Thanks
Corai

There is a real mix in there - quite a few Citadel/Marauder models, some even pre-slotta. There are also some older Ral Partha figures and some recently recent resin miniatures from Fendryll(?) miniatures.

Sweet! You have Deth and Taxxis from Hasslefree?

It's an ace mini - their figures are great!

They look excellent - the brushing on of the dip works really well.

The gnoblar's skin looks pretty good as well - is that just a camo green base coat?

The white llions would make fine puddy-tats for a hunter.

If you don't want to do a major conversion, just use a bit of greenstuff to fill in the elven runes so that the armour plate is smooth and then maybe stick a couple of large spikes coming out of the plates, just to give a more feral dangerous look to them.
