Armies of the Kingdoms / Re: 3k Goblin List
« on: May 28, 2013, 10:07:01 PM »
That list is pretty similar to my own but with a few changes. I tend to squeeze in a lot more goblins.

I'd drop the boss from the spider-riders. Why is he there?

I'd remove at least half the equipment from the lower level shamen. Most of them will have some sort of horrible magic accident, why make it more costly?

CaveSquig guy will likely be a one-hit engine of destruction. Equip him so! Potion of strength is great, especially with a spear on the charge. Alternatively a PoS plus some cheap anti-hero weapon makes him scary.

Where's your BSB? The HAS to be a BSB. Skarsnik's Ld will help but a BSB is worth its weight in fungus.

Think about dropping some of the squigs from the herd. That's a good size herd and a bit expensive for a T3 no save unit. It's be handy as a flanker but you don't have enough anvils to make it work.

Maybe drop an arachnarok. I'd prefer buckets of cheap variable stuff like pump-wagons, manglers etc. And maybe some artillery?

 Just my thoughts.

 You painted this yet?

I was wondering if anyone else had seen this?

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1117201778/all-quiet-on-the-martian-front-miniature-tanks-vs

I quite enjoy the War of the Worlds setting (especially the LoEG take) and quite like the look of this. I've signed on for a starter box and thought I'd share the love. Check out some of the videos and scale pictures- the models are 'true scale' 15mm meaning the tanks and tripod war machines are huge on the table (for a miniature, at any rate).

For a tabletop standard model that's great work. I like the nice, clean paintwork and the strong colour blocks.

You've also left plenty of room for yourself to revisit and add tattoos or other freehand work if you want.

If I were to change anything, I'd get a wash or two over the metals to move them a bit away from 'silver over black'.

That said, still a great job.

Since we're posting...

This is already in my other thread but here it is again out of a sense of completeness. Apologies for the old photos.

The new pegleg (with bent nail) and the leopard print stocking are my favorite bits.

Your inbox is full, mate.

I've got some skull pass dwarves I'd happily swap for some mournfang bits.

Crikey. Didn't realise they were that big. I'm guessing giant hands are too big for tyrants even.

Has anyone tried the big beastmen kit's hands on ogres? Do they fit? Or are they enormous Mickey Mouse hands on even the fattest tyrant?

Also- I'm looking for a mill stone from the giant kit if anyone has one.

Anyone got one that they're not using? I've got a collection of bits from various armies or, if necessary, cash.

Red ones look like a phoenix, or something. Blue one, not so much.

There's also the top of some large chariot/war wagon type thing there too.

Any chance of pictures of this conquering goblin horde?

As an aside, is 'horde' really the collective noun for goblins? What if there's only four of them? Doesn't seem enough to qualify as a 'horde'. Maybe a 'squabble' of goblins? Or a 'stabbing' of goblins? Either is an appropriate name for three or more goblins.

To S.O.F for his ogre/dragon ogre comparison.

Good to know. I'd wondered about the weapons. Thanks for the comparison shots.

It LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVVVES! It's ALIVE!

 The Undead Gnoblog walks again.

Ok, so I haven't done much toy soldier stuff over the last few months. Since the new year though, this has changed. On January the third I (intentionally) blew the brains out of my old PC and destroyed any opportunity to waste time on computer games. I'm not knocking computer games, they're great, but that's the problem. They're more or less crack for me and whole evenings, afternoons, days and weekends will disappear as I defeat alien hordes or double-tap terrorists' faces off. New year resolution is GO and PC is GONE (I'm writing this on my girlfriend's laptop, smart-arse).

End result? I have way more time on my hands. I've made huge changes to my garden, pulling out tree stumps, putting up walls and painting stuff; started learning about carpentry and built myself some outdoor furniture and stuff and, importantly for you guys, I've built and painted a bunch of models!

Ok, they're goblins but still, they're painted and there's at least one piratey reference to keep the blog theme legit.

To remind you, I've got about 200+ goblin infantry fully painted and have been working to add the exciting stuff to the army. This month I've built and painted 3 snotling pump-wagons and finally got around to converting some saddles for my Night Goblin spider riders. Check it all out-

You get two photos of the pirate ship pump-wagon 'cos it's my favorite.

And the spiders. The deal with these if that I don't want any dirty Forest Goblins in my army but I also don't want to miss out on cavalry. I can't see Night Goblins riding too many wolves because wolves aren't big cave dwellers but spiders I can work with. The problem is that the Night Goblin infantry just don't fit on the spiders. To fix this I added 'saddles' to raise the goblins a bit and give them more of a fighting platform to stand on, rather than sitting on or astride the spiders. Since taking the photos I've pinned all the riders but I'm not yet sure I should glue them- transport may be an issue! I'll try and get pictures of the complete rider plus spider soon.

 What do you think?

EDIT: Here's an outdoor table I made from old pallets. Took about 3 hours and I'm using it as a potting table. I've made some benches out of another pallet, too, so I might make another table to actually use as an outdoor dining table. Making furniture out of pallets is hip at the moment too, so I feel extra special.

Hi there,

I think I have 2 of the old metal Hunter harpoon launchers kicking around somewhere. I'm usually looking for bits in trade, what do you have that might be handy? I've been looking for some mournfang or thundertusk bits.

  Cheers,

         Captain.

Probably not, at this stage. Feel free to buy the lot and sell the rest, though.  ;)

Just found a box and the list has expanded. I'll update the initial post but there's a now also 30 bowmen, 8 winged lancers, 7 knights panther, 6 knights of the Blazing Sun, 6 Knights of the White Wolf, a grand theologen on his fancy cart and 10 Flagellants.

I'm after cash- I've already got a goblin army to finish, two space marine armies to tidy up and an imperial roman century to paint. I don't need more toy soldiers just at the moment.

The models are in New Zealand but we can discuss postage. From what I've looked up it's not too different from posting within the UK (crazy!) but I haven't checked out the US. I have to weigh everything to be certain.

 PM to follow.

Most of them are here- http://solegends.com/citcat1995-6/cat19956p188-02.htm if you keep clicking next image.

you could try warhammer-empire.com

I thought of them but I couldn't find their equivalent of the Gnoblar Market. Sensible idea, though.

The Gnoblar Market / Classic and OOP Empire army.

Morning chaps (and chap-ettes?), I've recently been clearing a bunch of old stuff I had in storage and have turned up a whole metal empire army. Crazy, I know, but I just forgot it was there and got distracted by shiny new stuff and degrees and careers and stuff.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to flog it, being an Ogre site and all, but I thought I'd let you guys know and at the same time ask if there was somewhere you'd recommend to try. Ebay is the obvious choice but I like fansites and am happy to put them there first.

Basically it's 10% painted (quite nicely if I can honk my own horn) but the majority is bare metal.

 There's-
Two cannon, painted.
One mortar, unpainted.
One Hellblaster, unpainted
23 metal Reiksgard (armoured greatswords?) mostly painted, plus an extra champion and banner bearer.
30 Armoured halberdiers, including command, unpainted. These are so rare I can't even find catalogue references, (I lie! - http://solegends.com/citcat1995-6/cat19956p190-02.htm)
7 metal outriders, unpainted
5 metal pistoliers, unpainted
8 kislev horse archers, including command, unpainted.
8 Kislev winged lancers with champion and musician
10 armoured crossbowmen, unpainted.
14 handgunners, 5 painted,
7 knights panther, including a grand master and standard,
5 Knights of Blazing Sun, including grand master and standard,
7 Knights of the white wolf, including grand master and standard.
12 Greatswords + 3 command models.
10 Flagellants,
30 bowmen, including musician and champion.
warhammer quest warrior priest, unpainted,
plastic light, heavens and amber(I think) wizards
Metal Jade wizard on foot.
Kurt Helborg, painted,
2 metal mounted Captains (these might be Elector counts too)
2 Captains on foot
4 Elector Counts (mounted, Marius Leitdorf, Boris Todbringer and two others)
1 Queen of Kislev
2-3 extra musicians and banner bearers,
2 more sets of artillery crew (no artillery, oddly)
Warwagon. unpainted, with all the crew.
War Altar, with giant griffon and Grand Theolegen.

A bag of mixed shields, including a healthy number of metal ones with an embossed maltese cross.

The idea was that it was an Altdorf army, so they were all well armoured and equipped, with a good number of warmachines. The ones that are painted are in red and blue, with white and green details.

I'm hoping to get rid of it all in one hit (it's a full army and thematically united) so if anyone is keen, or knows a good site to advertise it, then let me know.

   Thanks!

Other stuff: Cash please, photos to follow and postage is from NZ but we can try and arrange something.

So, my wife needs help finding me a gift around $50 that I would AND that should be "fun" (ie no tools, office stuff, etc.).:D

Your wife is using euphemism. She wants to buy "bedroom" toys. Sorry to break it to you so roughly.

Here-

If you look at the little map, I work at the vet clinic across the road. I'm possibly the only wargamer in the world for which this is a convenient store to shop at.

Since I love being referred to in other threads, here's a link I found-

http://www.clayalley.com/sculpting.htm

They actually seem to have a huge range of sculpting tools- I'm tempted to place an order myself!

It is odd though, that my local hobby store, in a small town on a back-water peninsular has them for cheaper than a website in the US. Maybe you should shop around for better prices.

23
You're right, of course. I chose my words badly.

I didn't mean 'run down' as in run over by enemy, I meant 'worn down' as in these units are full of bonus points (fanatics) and are low leadership, 20 x T3 wounds. It doesn't take much shooting to magic to start disappearing these units.

24
I once created a step-by-step rapid painter guide for night goblins. It was on another forum but I can dig it up or re-create it here, if you like.

I did a strategy one too, but it was for the last edition.

Sorry Hragged, I'll have to pass. I've only got the goblin not already painted and in use and he's got his task lined up already too.

I shall keep an eye on local auction sites for you, though.
