The Butcher's Cauldron / Typhus WIP Full Sculpt
« on: Oct 30, 2012, 08:59:31 PM »
I really like the Typhus model, always have. But I felt like it could use some more dynamic posing and could definitely afford to lose the Nurglings...they just make him silly looking and I figured he was a pretty serious badass and not prone to tomfoolery. Plus his current pose sets this scene in my mind, of him getting ready to do work and some Death Guard dude is like "hey Typhus!" and then he turns, startled and confused. Maybe reading too much into the pose, but there it is.

My goal was to get him a little taller, make his armor look more blessed, get the 3 circles in there, the fly, and make him look like he's in the midst of doing work! I also wanted the Destroyer Hive to look more organic, like his armor broke open and they come right out of his back. The stalks now look more realistic I hope, and the tubes running from his head to his back suggest they come from his brain which I think is gross.

From these pics I have to do: 1) Ugly up that scythe. I wanted it more old looking, with just a suggestion of tech in it because I think thats creepier. 2) Decide on the psychic effect for his left hand. I originally thought just a paint job could do it, a soft, sickly glow going down his arm into his hand. But I think if I can pull off a cloud effect, work some flies in there, it would look pretty cool. I need to keep it smaller though so as not to obscure the rest of the model.

C&C welcome!

Also SORRY about the pics, all I have is a phone camera. I promise I will have better lighting and pics for the final shots!

Hi there, just looking to see who is going to Mechanicon  this year? It will be my first and I am excited for the whole weekend! I'd like to meet other B&C members, maybe even get some interviews with you guys or something. I will be playing in the Kill Team tourney, would love to play the big games but someone has to man our table and watch our recording stuff!

Hope to see you there!

When you "swype" the word expensive in your smart phone, and it misinterprets the entry as "Exterminatus"  FTW

On the squig note: Working with a guy named Squig, who is built like an Orc, and feeling unnatural fear around him.

Agree 100% on the throwing things away after determining their value as terrain, LOL.

Now mine:

Seeing ASF as a medical brand name and thinking it stands for Always Strikes First even though I know damn well it doesn't.

Seeing Acura TL and thinking it must mean twin-linked (I know its 40k but still LOL)

Seeing a robed religious man in a grocery store and thinking I don't have a ward save. Yeah that one happened once, before I could stop it.

that must be the Dreadknight!  Imperial Monstrous Creature!
ohhhhh my, talking about centerpieces!
i've been waiting to decide my second 40k army to be either GK or Space Wolves.... that blurry model may just seal the deal for me!

Sweet! Fortunately for me I already have Wolves, so the decision is simple haha.

I am looking VERY forward to this release, I hope the models are awesome, but if not I plan to use BT/DA models as my Knights. In any case I'm excited for this book too!

Only Black Ops for me on Xbox haha. Can't stop even when I want to, I think they wrote some code into the game that has psy-forced me to want to play!

The A Bomb is a decent sculpt, but as I'm not fond of mutations and such in general, I think I'll keep working on my giant slug A bomb :-)

The WLC looks cool, but really I don't know that its so much better than the old?

House Rules / Re: Wolfen army
« on: Dec 19, 2010, 08:46:00 PM »
I want to read this closer, as it looks good. I would say off the bat though, make the Fur rule a Scaly Skin save, it will go with other armies units that are bestial.

Agreed, you have some really BAMF'n models there! I love those ice weapons, but the rest of the army looks great as well. The Crusader is the ish, I wish I had a place for something like that in my ogre tribe.

21
Absolutely love this program, can't wait for a WoC file!

22
Thanks Blugh. I write a lot of Warhammer Fantasy but this was a challenge as Gorgers are almost blind.  I wanted to create a battle with only smells and sounds, thats whys its light on the narrative.

What is a Lictor?

LOL sorry I game in both universes, its the Tyranid version of a ninja.

23
Great story! I considered doing something like this with a Lictor lol, but couldn't get ir figured out. Awesome read!

Sweet conversions man! I'm actually in the middle of converting some of the old ogres myself ;)

P.S would you take a friendly add on FB, not many on my F list play Warhammer (at least seriously) lol. Good work.

Thanks and sure go ahead man!
