Rules Questions and FAQs / Can Sniping Maneaters split their fire?

This might be a silly question, but I saw this done in a battle report and thought, "this can't be done". I most certainly have never thought of it myself. 

But after checking the Rules and FAQs it does seems plausible.

The BRB say a model with sniper can pick a different target than its unit. But of course, having a whole unit with sniper might effect this somehow, though I can't seem to find it.

Can anyone help me with this?

Greetings.

I'm a 22 year Old Norwegian student, resurrecting my old Ogre army.
I've been playing wargames since I was ten and Ogres are my current greatest love.

Here I'll share some of my mediocre converting and painting skills, and hopeefully improve some in the process

Currently I've painted:
6 Ogres with ironfists
6 Ironguts

Built :
5 Maneaters
4 Leadbelcher
Slaughtermaster
3 Ogre bulls (I will call them this no matter what )
Gorger
Scrappie (Though I'll convert him into an IB after I've built and painted my first)
2 Mournfangs
Tyrant
Firebelly

Armies of the Kingdoms / 2000 pts - Tournament list

Greetings oh mighty Tyrants of the Ogre Stronghold 

I'm finally starting up again with my beloved Ogres. They were the ones who draw me over from 40k, and into WFB. Sadly I haven't given them any love in the last few years, but I intend to make them my main army again

I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks now, trying to gain as much knowledge as possible.
Now I'm trying to put it down on paper and make myself a usable  list for a small tournament.



SM (lvl3), Lore of the great maw. Fencer's blades, Hellheart                  

BSB, HA, Enchanted shield                  
                  
6 Ogres,       Banner, musician IFs   
      
6 Ironguts,   Banner of dicipline, bellower         
                  
4 Maneaters,HA BoHG, flaming banner, musician   ( Poison, Sniper? )                        
                                                      
4 Maneaters, HA, 4 AHW   ( ItP, Stubborn?)

3 Mournfangs,Bellower, IF and HA

I'm a little afraid that my love for converting maneaters cloud my better judgements. And I still haven't played with my tribe in 8th. (since I'm repainting it) 
I want to bulk up one of my core units and maybe squeeze in a Firebelly with a dispel scroll, but struggling to fit everything I want in the list.

So any comments. critique and suggestions would be hugely appreciated!
