Stronghold News / Re: Sneak Peek at Mantic's Kings of War Ogres
« on: Oct 29, 2012, 11:24:35 PM »
I like them but the full model does look like he has a bad back. His legs look..odd..could be the photo. The sculpts are really detailed for mantic which is nice ;)

Blunderbuss looks very nice and the heads look great.

Defo Orc and totally see the Warcraftyness in there.

The Butcher's Cauldron / Re: Gunpowder free Leadbelchers?
« on: Oct 06, 2012, 08:28:25 PM »
Well, the weapon needs to be something that when launched/ fired could do multiple injuries to a unit.

No powder weapons:

Handful of spears thrown as one like a bunch of javelins
Big spiked balls
Big bows/ crossbows
Ogre sized slingshots
handfuls of ninja stars

40mm are ogre sized, same as 4 20mm. Useful for gobbo/ Skaven unit fillers etc

Jon has a good example of a converted scrappie to Ionblaster. You would want to make a cannon or obtain one really. Several leadbelcher cannons tied to each other, some tube ou have decorated with GS, a bit toy cannon of some kind etc..

You can get the cannon from some bits stores if you really wanted too.

Maulerfiend would make an awesome Jugga but also a great chaos theme Ogre Rhinox too.

Also don't forget you only get to overrun once per turn, that if you overrun into a combat that has not yet taken place you get to fight twice in 1 turn - can only do this once of course.

Sculpting work is really nice but the feel from the extended jaw makes me think of the Mummy and more of a chaos/ mutated SM rather than just one who eats lots.

history is full of large forces being routed by smaller ones ;)

Good job.

My last battle 10 gnoblars ran down 5 trolls (although they have helped from 10 ironguts with a flaming banner...

Halfling Cookbook / Re: Dreadboi's Banner Tutorial
« on: Aug 09, 2012, 06:54:16 PM »
Looks great - only criticism is the lines are straight across folds and sags in the banner - which coming from me and my lack of painting is like saying "yeah those Olympics are easy to do right".. maybe cut the tape with some curves in it and try to match over the folds if you are anal like me ;)

Love your stuff and it is such a minor critique feel free to slap me.

Have a look at Darkrituals MF. Some greenstuff, bits and spikes and they look very chaosy.

The Butcher's Cauldron / Re: Ogre Wound Trackers - Suggestions?
« on: Aug 02, 2012, 09:31:11 PM »
I've gone for a fairly simple route but one you could combine with your plans.

basically a printed colour image on paper, cut out and glued to bottom of a glass bead.

Can see them in this pics:

Rules Questions and FAQs / Re: Is this acceptable?
« on: Jul 30, 2012, 05:20:37 AM »
Notes from a previous post:

Little note/ Summary on Command Group:

Musicians:
"onwards men" = Must be in Front Rank
"Form on me" and "Swift Reform" = Musician in unit not necessarily in front rank.
Removed as casualty before the standard bearer.

Standard Bearer/ BSB:
Combat Res bonus: Applies from any place in the unit.
Dies if unit flee's from combat.
Removed as casualty before the Champion.

Champion:
Last Rank and File guy to be removed from shooting attacks, wounds on unit etc.
Wounds overflow to him from unit but not from him to unit. Stick him on a corner to reduce wounds taken if expecting a lot.

Look them up in the rulebook where it introduces them and it explains the above.

Lots of water ;) Try and get a wet palette sorted with all the colours you want on it ready so you minimise the time getting the paint to the shield; keep the brush wet and do the above with no drying time and see how it blends ;)

I have the frost giant and he is much bigger than an Ogre but passable as a large tyrant.

Some other figs I found BB ones that could be used for all sorts:
