The times they are a changin'. Adepticon 2011 I was the only Ogre player in the championship with a field of about 140 players.

It's good to see but I did like being the odd guy out.

I really like this as well. Great way to keep it unique and get something you like. They look like Ogre Dwarves, or would that be dwarf ogres?

Keep up the great work.

Really I pressive stuff here. The sculpting work is fantastic. The lookout gnob is one of my favorites too. Well done.

This is a fantastic start. These kind of challenging projects really help push your skills to the next level. That is pretty impressive work with the faces.

They look a little thin for ogres, even ogre women (I assume) would have quite the gut.

A great start here. I look forward to updates.

My real question is about the paint scheme for the bloke’s skin, it’s the blue that I’ve been trying to achieve for awhile now but just haven’t been able to figure out!

It is a mix of grey, bronzed flesh and a blue. I don't really know the amounts as I mix them up until it looks good, but if I had to guess it would be 2 parts flesh, 2-3 parts blue, 1 part grey.

I'm a fan of gore but it can be easy to go a little over the top. For a gorger though its kinda hard to go over the top.

There are lots of good guides for lots of different types of blood so I'd research it a bit before you go crazy, that way you get the effect you like best.

Good stuff here =D

Gundehar, I like the way you think. Easter Eastern style Maneaters!

Great idea Gundehar. That just inspired me for my BSB. Instead of raising the flag like the memorial he can be pole vaulting (Olympics FTW)!

Keep the ideas coming. Lord knows I'm going to need some inspiration if they are all going to be unique.

Welcome to the Dynamic Ogre Project!

The Dynamic Ogre Project is going to follow my progress in converting an Army full of dynamically posed Ogres.

A few weeks back I had an idea of creating an Ogre model that appeared to be in mid jump, lunging at the opponent. This was very successful. Well someone had to go and make a comment that he looked a little odd in a unit of "static" Ogres. I see your challenge and accept!

As a refresher here is the original Dynamic Ogre.

The first part of this project is going to be a 13 man unit of Ironguts. A hammer and anvil in one. With three characters this makes a very nice 4x4 unit. I've got the foundation of the first 3 Ogres ready to go.

Standard Bearer

Super Leaping Ogre

The "I know Ironguts do not have handgun upgrades but do not care" Ogre

Today I also began work on a multi level movement tray. The goal is to have this be essentially a playable diorama.

Stay tune for more!

It looks pretty good but I think could use a few more bits of junk/meat/cutting tools hanging from him. Also, what size base is he on, it looks kinda like a 50mm.

I like the head he is holding, maybe lay the rest of the body bleeding on the ground near him =D

Behold the filth that is Nurgle Maneater. Something to be said for puking your own guts back into your guts that are trailing behind you.

FYI, his right arm is some bloated elephantiasis Nurgle business busting through and replacing his Ogre arm. Same thing with the right leg.

Since I just finished my Dynamic Ogre I'll add him to list.

Lets not forget my Nurgle Maneater with gross elephantiasis of the right foot and some sort of Nurgle filth busting through and replacing his right arm.

Today I put together my wet pallet (from a few goodies I picked up at Wal-Mart) and finished off the Dynamic Ogre Project. Photo overload incoming!!!

And with his unit of Ironguts! He's a Gutlord for sure!

I really like the idea of the in units of 2 in a fun Skragg list. Do you think 2 of them for 180 in a unit is better than solo Gorgers?

Yup, cutting edge is on the spikey side.

The base is made from some tree bark, a bit of clump foliage from woodland scenics and the grass from some bristles of a big cheap paint brush from home depot.

Moar angles

I also realized that since he is not glued in place I can pivot him on the paperclip for some serious leaping lunging action!

And the showdown with the Firebelly!

Cool. Can we get some more pics without the text and from a few different angles?

Sure can. It stil needs a few highlights. That was a photo my brother took and uses some silly imeme app on his iPhone. I thought it was funny =P

This is great bud, did you do all of the GS work in one go or do some and let it dry and then do the

Yup, a few spots were built up all at once but its much easier to work with GS by building it up in layers. But to do that you need patience, or a hairdryer, or both =D

This is fantastic... Would you be up for  commissions? (Thinking Daemonic Ogre Maneaters with crazy posing).

I wish, with a 40 hour work week, 90 minutes of commuting each way and wife I don't get to hobby as much as I'd like. =(

Thanks for all the nice replies. I do it for the love of the Ogres =D

Behold, the awesomeness that is the airbrush!

The Butcher's Cauldron / Dynamic Ogre is Dynamic! (Completed)
« on: Mar 08, 2012, 09:24:34 PM »
Howdy folks, hobby time update. I am currently working on an dynamic action ogre, leaping into action. Reading the ogre fluff you always hear about fast and quick ogres are despite their size, but they all look like they are lumbering about. Well not anymore!

Behold, dynamic ogre being dynamic!

Don't you worry, of course I'll update as he moves along the path to completion.

My best camera is actually my iPhone camera. The iPhone 4 has a great camera that does a nice macro job. The iPhone 4s is even better.
